BRIT, the studio’s founder and chief creative officer, is a registered architect and licensed interior designer. Born in rural Oklahoma, she named the studio in homage to her roots. To plow is to turn over the earth each season, preparing fertile ground for what comes next, much like the iterative practice of design.
Her ethos pairs formal architectural training with a multidisciplinary approach, and she regards architecture as applied art. A lifelong maker, Brit brings a craftsperson’s command of material to her work, from textiles and the sewn arts to furniture of her own design and fabrication, alongside a discerning curation of art and fine objects. The result is an interior shaped by both a maker’s hand and a collector’s eye.
DANIEL, the studio’s project manager and head of operations, serves as its technical lead. A licensed architect with deep expertise in permitting and construction administration, he guides each project from drawings to finished space, navigating the codes, approvals, and site conditions that turn ambitious ideas into buildable ones. Where Brit shapes the vision, Daniel ensures it arrives intact, giving clients a team fluent in both the poetry and the practicalities of building.
Every project begins with listening. Before anything is drawn, the studio works to understand a client’s vision and values. From there, the process is closer to sculpture: refining an idea until it begins to reveal itself. Along the way, the space often has something to say. An unexpected condition can redirect the course of a design, and more often than not, the greatest challenges yield the richest opportunities. Rather than imposing a signature style, the studio allows the spirit of those who inhabit each space to shape its palette, its character, and its story.
The studio’s work spans a wide range of places and project types: a meditative startup headquarters in San Francisco, a Forestville treehouse, new builds among the vineyards of Healdsburg and in the mountains of Colorado, and residences across Napa, Sonoma, and Utah. Services include full-service new construction as well as residential and commercial renovations.
